Making Eye Care Easy: Accessible Vision Services in Westwood

Valley Eye Associates BlogWhen choosing an eye care provider, accessibility is just as important as expertise. At Valley Eye Associates, we make it simple for patients from Westwood and beyond to reach our office, park with ease, and enter our facility without barriers.

Whether you're driving in from a nearby town, taking public transportation, or require wheelchair access, we've designed our location to accommodate your needs.

Convenient Location in Westwood

Valley Eye Associates is located in Westwood, a central hub surrounded by many small towns, making it easy for patients from all over Bergen County to visit us.

We frequently see patients from Harrington Park, Emerson, Hillsdale, Woodcliff Lake, Park Ridge, Norwood, and even parts of Rockland County, NY. Some of our patients travel from as far as Edgewater, demonstrating our reputation for quality eye care in the region.

Parking and Public Transit Options

Most patients choose to drive to our office, and we’ve made parking stress-free with an on-site lot that offers free parking. If you’re taking public transportation, a bus stop is located directly in front of our office, making it simple to reach us without a car. Additionally, Westwood has a train station, though patients arriving by rail will need a short cab or rideshare trip to complete their journey.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Our office is fully wheelchair accessible and located on the first floor to eliminate the need for stairs or elevators. We regularly see patients who use wheelchairs, and we’ve designed our space to be comfortable and accommodating for all mobility needs.

What to Expect When You Arrive

At Valley Eye Associates, we strive to make your visit as smooth as possible. New patients can complete their paperwork online before their appointment, which helps reduce wait times and ensures we have all the necessary information ahead of time.

If you’re coming in for your first visit, we’ll need:

  • Basic contact information (name, phone number, address, date of birth)
  • Insurance details, including vision and medical coverage
  • A list of any medications you’re currently taking

For those who wear contact lenses, we recommend arriving with your contacts in place and bringing any glasses you use regularly. If you’re scheduled for a dilated eye exam, you may want to arrange for a ride home, as dilation can cause temporary light sensitivity and blurry vision.

The Eye Exam Process at Valley Eye Associates

Once you arrive, our team will guide you through the exam process. Unlike many practices, Dr. Lee personally conducts all pre-tests and examinations, ensuring a thorough and personalized experience. Your visit will typically last between 25 and 45 minutes, depending on the tests needed.

If you're a contact lens wearer, you may receive trial lenses on the same day, or we’ll order a pair for you to test before committing to a purchase. For those selecting new glasses, we’ll walk you over to our optical department, where a specialist will help you find the perfect frames.

Picking Up Your Glasses or Contacts

After your exam, if you order new glasses, expect them to be ready in about one to two weeks, depending on the prescription and lens customization. Contact lenses usually arrive faster—typically within three to five business days. If you prefer, we can ship your contacts directly to your home, saving you an extra trip to our office.
